We are delighted to announce the latest solo show by Gallery-artist Norman Long MAFA. You may know Norman for his plein-air paintings of Manchester (you may have even seen him painting in the street), but Norman's work doesn't stop with landscapes. Inspired by observation, the artist draws influence from multiple sources - from portraits of family members to Manchester landmarks and beach scenes, Long explores the breadth and depth of his subject matter.
Painting both in his studio from found imagery and on location, Long's work delves into the concept of connection. Starting off with time constrained sketches on different themes, the studies are then manipulated and developed into final compisitions.Never stagnant, the paintings appear in a state of flux, moving, discussing: creating a narrative for the viewer to uncover.
Norman Long is very quickly cementing himself as one of the most popular Northern artists. A member of the Northern boys, Long is known for pushing the boundaries with his use of colour.
