Adam Ralston Solo Show

12 - 26 March 2022

'All the new paintings have been painted from life, directly in front of the subject. People often say ‘wouldn’t it be easier just taking a photograph?’ Maybe so, but the end result for me personally just wouldn’t work. Why should it be easy anyway? The sun may be out, then disappears. Light constantly changes all the time. Rain, wind, people, trams, noise, panic, danger! This is what I want to experience when painting. I don’t get that looking at a photo. There’s nothing more exciting than setting up your easel, and trying to capture in oil paint what’s actually there in direct view. It’s the most frustrating, but rewarding thing I do as an artist. It’s the only way I know how to paint.' -Adam Ralston

We are proud to present 'Manchester on the Move' a solo exhibition by Gallery artist Adam Ralston AROI MAFA.

The launch will be on Saturday 12th March 2022, where you can meet the artist who currently lives in Blackpool- as well as a chance to enjoy over 20 brand new paintings.

Recently elected as an associate member of the 'Royal Institute of Oil Painters' Ralston is a member of many artist societies notably, the 'Manchester Academy of Fine Arts', the 'Northern Boys' and the 'British Plein Air Painters'. Ralston continues to carry on painting in the way of the masters- battling any and all weather to work outside, creating atmospheric landscapes full of movement and energy.

Ralston’s colour palette features subdue tonal hues of grey, blue and ochre applied with dabbing brushstrokes-making the colours vibrate. Almost in the style of the 'Impressionists'.

This collection of works is the most complete group of Manchester paintings Adam has exhibited.

Please note all the paintings will go live on the website at 10am on the 12th March.
