Francis Boag b. 1948

Francis Boag (b. 1948, Dundee) studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where he was influenced by tutors  Alberto Morrocco and David McClure. While pursuing a successful teaching career, Boag continued to paint, with a move to the North East in 1989 marking a turning point in his artistic direction.

By 1995, his vibrant, expressionist interpretations of the Scottish landscape began gaining attention in galleries, and demand for his work soon spread across the UK and Ireland. Today, Boag exhibits widely both nationally and internationally, with shows in New York, Paris, Munich, Russia, and Australia.

Boag is among the few artists whose work is held in the national collections of both Scotland and Ireland. His paintings are also part of numerous public and corporate collections, including Dundee and Stirling Universities, Aberdeen Art Galleries, and the Royal Bank of Scotland, which has acquired several major works for locations including Beijing.

His imagery is regularly featured in UNICEF’s international fine art catalogue, making him the only Scottish artist represented in their collection.
