Kyffin Williams British, 1918-2006

Sir Kyffin Williams (1918–2006) was a renowned Welsh painter celebrated for his dramatic, textured land- scapes and portraits. Born in Anglesey, Williams is best known for his depictions of the rugged Welsh countryside, using a distinctive impasto technique that gave his paintings depth and a powerful sense of place. His bold, expressive use of palette knife and muted tones captured the atmosphere and raw beauty of his homeland. Williams was a champion of Welsh culture and identity. He was knighted in 1999 for his contributions to British art.
